Tropicoco | 2018 Accessory Collection

Cocos Island, known in Spanish as La Isla del Coco, is a Costa Rican national park located in the Pacific Ocean. It is home to thousands of endemic flora and fauna species. The island is uninhabited except for a small group of marine biologists, scientists, researchers, and park rangers who conduct investigations and protect the island.

The idea behind this thesis investigation, led by accessory and jewelry designer Mariel Gurdián, is to develop a footwear collection that pays tribute to Isla del Coco and its endemic species. This collection serves as a means of introducing outside viewers to the island while raising awareness about its endangered species. The final products incorporate print design, UV printing, and laser cutting.
